Wynonna Spotlighted for YouthAIDS CharmWynonna and Ashley Judd featured for charitable contributions with YouthAIDS and the spotlight on the new Roberto Coin Africa Charm Bracelet
NEW YORK, NY : Italian jewelry designer Roberto Coin has joined forces with YouthAIDS in their global incentive of raising funds and spreading the message of HIV/AIDS awareness to the world's youth population. Implemented through events and promotions, Roberto Coin has specially-designed a diamond charm bracelet known as the "YouthAIDS Bracelet" to benefit the organization. Exclusively for 2005, Coin created an "Africa Charm" to launch the sale of the bracelet. More limited edition charms will follow in 2006 and 2007.
Designed with the world in mind, the bracelet has a unique diamond charm of Africa made in both sterling silver and 18K yellow gold. Retailing for $350 in sterling silver and $850 in 18K yellow gold, the charm bracelet will be available at Saks Fifth Avenue stores in addition to select Roberto Coin retailers nationwide. Roberto Coin will be donating over half of all proceeds from the sale of the bracelet directly to YouthAIDS.
"Using Africa as my inspiration, I was already in the process of designing a piece that captures its beauty," says CEO and designer Roberto Coin. "I created the charm and bracelet because they are both a statement of something personal. There is a meaning behind every charm one wears. I was very impressed by the efforts that YouthAIDS has made for the prevention of the disease in Africa and I wanted to assist in their fight against AIDS. The charm bracelet acts as reminder of what needs to be done to stop this deadly disease."
Renowned actress Ashley Judd has joined hands with YouthAIDS and has been their Global Ambassador since 2002. Ashley uses her celebrity status to speak on behalf of those without a voice and to promote YouthAIDS' programs to provide young adults with immediate solutions for fighting AIDS. Speaking out in Hollywood and around the world, Ashley’s tireless efforts raise awareness and much needed funding for YouthAIDS prevention and education programs. In 2005, Ashley joined YouthAIDS on a tour of Kenya, Madagascar and South Africa to see YouthAIDS prevention and education initiatives firsthand.
Giving back runs in the family. As another YouthAIDS U.S. Ambassador, recording artist, philanthropist and five-time Grammy Award Winner, Wynonna Judd is one of the charity’s most active and vocal supporters. Through performances, ticket sales and public appearances, she works to raise funds and awareness for YouthAIDS effective programs. This past June, Wynonna gave an exclusive concert at the Las Vegas hot spot Wynn Resort to introduce the Roberto Coin "Africa Charm" bracelet. Her show stopping performance acted as the launch event to kick off this new fundraising initiative for YouthAIDS.
Other notable VIPS and celebrities that will be see wearing the Roberto Coin YouthAIDS Bracelet will be Salma Hayek, Penelope Cruz, Cindy Crawford, Josh Lucas, Elijah Wood, LL Cool and Christina Aguilera. All of whom will be featured in the new YouthAIDS PSA due out this September.
"With the absence of a cure or vaccine the only solution is prevention and education. I am so thrilled that Roberto Coin has used his creativity and platform to raise vital awareness and funding for the YouthAIDS programs," says YouthAIDS Founder and Director Kate Roberts. "Every dollar raised from this beautiful charm bracelet will go toward educating and protecting youth around the world."
